TenarisUniversity

Tenaris has established a corporate university to integrate all internal educational and training processes and whose mission is to “Build and sustain Tenaris’s competitive advantage by capturing, organizing, enriching and transferring knowledge assets.” Training is TenarisUniversity’s core activity, as the company is deeply committed to strengthening the technical and managerial competencies of its human resources.

On average, Tenaris white-collar employees spend more than 65 working hours in class or taking e-learning courses, comparable with best practices in people training. More than 40% of training is in the form of specific technical courses directly related to the job of the employee. Training begins with the Induction Camp, a 4-week intensive orientation program that gathers all newly hired Global Trainees from all over the world, and continues throughout the employee’s career blending classroom courses with e-learning.

The primary objective of TenarisUniversity is to align knowledge across the Company, which is done through a Core Program, a comprehensive set of e-learning courses that cover all corporate functions. Also, in late 2005, TenarisUniversity established an Industrial School to manage training at several educational levels in the Company’s industrial and technical areas. The establishment of the school constitutes an important step in the Company’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the sense of a common industrial culture.

TenarisUniversity’s activities go beyond training, however. On behalf of all sponsoring companies, it is responsible for implementing the Roberto Rocca Education Program (www.robertorocca.org), a global scholarship and fellowship program that supports engineering studies in many countries. Also, TenarisUniversity coordinates Tenaris’s support of steeluniversity.org (www.steeluniversity.org), the International Iron and Steel Institute’s website on steelmaking and steel science. Finally, it manages TenarisWorkplace, the Company’s Intranet collaboration portal.
